User Comments for My Mother Dreams the Satan's Disciples in New York
javier (8 out of 10 ) This is a great story. I lived I new york and the story realy breathes truth. New yorker's are somtimes labaled rude but you just have to get to know them. Is this story made into a movie yet? Great job.
john (10 out of 10 ) Excellent story. The poor and rough looking have also real heart which appreciates the true and unselfish kindness and are able to show their appreciation in a most lovengly and carring way. I have not been in New York, but I hope one day I will visit this great city.
Coral (10 out of 10 ) I loved this story. Very warm and human with great visual descriptions. It was quite uplifting thinking of how it's not really your external circumstances but your inner strength that gets you through things and even in tough situations your imagination can come to your rescue.
TravInOmaha (9 out of 10 ) Such a great short, Rex!
I second the "is this story made into a movie yet"? comment.
Josh (10 out of 10 ) This is a great story! I loved it and I want to DP it when it's done! :)
Tyler (10 out of 10 ) Great story, has all the required elements. Can't wait for it to be a film.
voller (10 out of 10 ) If I had the chance I would be happy to make it in to a movie, fantastic.
rob (7 out of 10 ) It has already been made into a movie that has won an oscar for best short film. I can't remember what year though.
Tom (8 out of 10 ) Liked it. Very nice. Thought something a bit more dramatic was going to happen, but on the whole thought it was really interesting and well written.
Alympis (2 out of 10 ) Whoever said this story really "Breathes True" does not live in New York. This script is filled with "classic" stereotypes of both the "city-life" and the "country bumpkin". And the "ironic events" that stereotypically befall them.
Little Richie (10 out of 10 ) I loved the script, I know it was made into a short film and won an Oscar in 2000 (Barbra Schock). I can't find the DVD anywhere, does anybody know where I might find it?
arokia (6 out of 10 ) Wonderful. Mother's view is always different. First fear and finally winning with true love.
Marisa (10 out of 10 ) Well written script, very cute & heartfelt story. Well done & sweet.
M. A. F. Dalton (10 out of 10 ) Fabulous. Inspiring for me on many levels, both as a writer & moviemaker, and as a human being.
Cody (7 out of 10 ) It's pretty good, but I was pretty disappointed there was no explanation as to why Paula lied to her mother about going to the Satan's Disciples HQ. It's heavily implied that she came up with the plan to get her more comfortable with being in the area. PAULA (softer) Okay? Does that sound like a plan? Marian doesn't answer. Paula stands some distance from her distracted mother, a worried expression featured on her face. Then later she tries to convince her for some reason that she dreamed the whole thing up. I figured there'd be some reason later explained, but it's as if this line of dialog was just totally pointless.
K. Mizoguchi (10 out of 10 ) A charming fable that took place in a time when the East Village really did have the Hell's Angels motorcycle club on a block there. A perfectly-wrought script that turns sinuously in subtly unexpected directions.
Robert Stockwell (10 out of 10 ) Absolutely fantastic! Like to think I'm a wannabe writer and want to get a feel for how scripts are laid out. This is first actual script I've read other than various piecemeals I've been given as extra stand-in for nearby shoots. The old standard - hurry up and wait can't really be applied to scriptwriting as one really needs to know the pattern. Very interesting just the same.
